Diese Dialektik zwischen Ausgangstext und Kritik nehmen diese Gouachen auf und spielen an auf die Frage was vorne ist und was hinten, was Figur und was Grund, was Materie was ihre Ausdehnung?
In the context of the Kant reception by early romantic writers such as Friedrich von Schlegel, a form of critical writing was established that was less evaluative as empathic and extensive. This dialectical relation is thematized in „Deutsche Romantik“ by questioning the difference of fore- and back, figure and ground, substance and extention.
