Diese Komposition einer thronende Maria mit dem Jesuskind auf ihrem Schoss wurde im Mittelalter als Sedes Sapientiae, Sitz der Weisheit, bezeichnet. Die Figur der „Maria“ ist für mich die Personifikation eines Kreierens, dass den schöpferischen Akt als die Umgestaltung einer aktiven Materie versteht. Natur und Kultur, Form und Materie bedingen einander gegenseitig und sind untrennbar.
In the Middle Ages, this composition of an enthroned Virgin with the Christ Child on her lap was called Sedes Sapientiae, the seat of wisdom. To me, the figure of the Virgin Mary personifies an act of creation – the creative act is conceived as a constructive transformation of active substance. Nature and culture, form and substance constitute each other and are inseparable.
