Sand, Kiefern und das Meer kehren als Materie und kultureller Subtext immer wieder in meinen Arbeiten auf. Gaston Bachelard schrieb über die Bedeutung von Räumen und Landschaften der Kindheit für die Einbildungskraft: „Unsere Heimat ist nicht so sehr ein Gebiet als eine Materie; es ist ein Stein oder eine Erde; eine Trockenheit oder ein Licht. Es ist der Ort, an dem unsere Träume ihre wahre Form annehmen“.
Sand, pine trees and the sea as matter and as a subtext are recurring elements in my work. Gaston Bachelard wrote about the meaning of childhood spaces for the imagination: according to him, our “Heimat” is less an area than tangible matter; it is a stone or soil, a dryness or a particular light. It is the space in which our dreams take on their true shape.
